Cold, snow, mittens, and hot chocolate are some of the words that come to mind when you think of ice skating, BUT, did you know that you don’t have to wait until winter, or somewhere in the north to go ice skating? I found some of the coolest (pun intended,) ice skating rinks around the world. I know my blog is about the 50 states, but don’t worry, only #7-#13 are overseas rinks, while the rest are here in the good old U.S of A!
My favorites on the list are San Diego’s Hotel Del Coronado 10,000 foot rink overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the beach. How fun is that? Next time you’re in the area, you can ice skate while in your bathingsuit while skating along synthetic ice in a rink lined with palm trees.
The Curry Village Ice Rink in Yosemetie, CA, is another fun one to see. In 1928, residents flooded and froze an old parking lot in the winter time. Since then, it’s become a tradition and is now an official ice skating rink. Not only can you ice skate, but you can warm up in the warming hut our at their outdoor fire pit. Not into ice skating? Grab your skis and alpine or cross country ski while overlooking the rink!
Don’t you all miss the hoidays once they are finally over with? I definitely miss the holiday cheer, music, and overall feeling that comes along with that. Well, you don’t have to worry about that sad and lonely feeling anymore, head to the Venetian hotel in Las Vegas to check out the nightly holiday themed light show and ice skating rink! Better yet, sign up for the package that combines an Italian-like gondola ride, and then head outside to lace up those skates and go for a spin!
I’m sure there are tons of ice skating rinks that I haven’t listed, so let me know if there are some cool ones I should visit or look into! We just got some snow flurries today, so I’m totally in the mood for snow-related activities! What are your favorites?
