I find it ironic that NC’s state slogan is “First in Flight,” considering my last flight there took place in a microscopic airplane during a storm! But that’s neither here nor there. I think by now, most everyone has been to North Carolina. It’s no secret that they have great weather year-round, which is why so many people flock there like sheep. I’ve had some fun trips to North Carolina. Since they have been pretty quick trips, and one for a wedding, I’ll lump them all in one post since they will all be pretty short.
My father’s childhood friend moved to Wilmington, NC, a few years ago. Since then, we’ve gone to visit and had a great time. The weather was great, and we were able to tour the town with someone who lived there. We toured the Historic District in Wilmington’s downtown area. It’s a beautiful neighborhood with the most historical places. Another fun thing we did was go to the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores. We had so much fun here, and their aquarium is filled with some great things, especially the penguins!
One day we hung out on Bald Head Island. This is the coolest island ever, where you mainly get around by golf carts. So much fun, especially for a 16-year-old Carly who didn’t have her drivers license yet! The Lighthouse is a amazing, and offers the most beautiful views of the coastline. It’s also the last remaining lighthouse on the island. After the lighthouse tour and views, we stopped by the Conservatory.
Asheville, NC, is another awesome place to visit. It’s a very artsy town, full of culture, laid back people, and unique and interesting things to do and see. Along with how “hip” and cool it is now, it’s home to one of the most historic things in our country: The Biltmore Mansion. Since we were in Asheville for a wedding, we didn’t have too much time to do too many touristy things, but we did see the mansion. It’s a must-see and amazing to think that these people lived in this estate!
Well, I’m sorry this post wasn’t too informative on NC, but the times I have been there was really for visiting family and friends, and not focused too much on sight-seeing. Maybe I’ll get to go back to see what they have to offer! Who has any suggestions for me for the next time I go??
