That disappointment can ruin a whole trip, but have no fear; the Trip Doctor is here to give you some points and tips on how to get a free upgrade or room change.
I have unfortunately been in this situation before and the key here is to stay calm, and talk to management immediately. One time we were able to switch rooms, but another time while in the Caribbean with some extended family, the entire hotel was not at all like the website showed or described, so we switched hotels entirely! Kudos to the Westin in St. Maarten for accommodating all of us on such a last minute (and an incredibly beautiful hotel.)
