Jeer of the Week: Deceiving Hotel Rooms

Have any of you been in the situation where you excitedly swipe your key card into the hotel room door and…. it’s not at all what you thought it would be or saw on their website? That disappointment can ruin a whole trip, but have no fear; the Trip Doctor is here to give you some points and tips on how to get a free upgrade or room change.

I have unfortunately been in this situation before and the key here is to stay calm, and talk to management immediately. One time we were able to switch rooms, but another time while in the Caribbean with some extended family, the entire hotel was not at all like the website showed or described, so we switched hotels entirely! Kudos to the Westin in St. Maarten for accommodating all of us on such a last minute (and an incredibly beautiful hotel.)

While traveling somewhere far from home, it’s a little creepy and scary when something like that happens and leaves you wondering, what else are they hiding? I won’t spoil the rest of the article, so read up before you go, but I hope you won’t have to use any of these tips and tricks!
